Adam's Peak, also known as Sri Pada, is a renowned mountain peak located in the central part of Sri Lanka. The hike is particularly enchanting during the early morning hours when pilgrims aim to reach the summit in time to witness the spectacular sunrise. The sight of the rising sun casting a majestic shadow of the peak onto the clouds below, known as the "Samudra Parakrama" or "Butterfly's Shadow," is a truly magical experience.

Along the pilgrimage route, there are rest stops, tea houses, and small shops selling devotional items, snacks, and refreshments. The mountain is inhabited by various animal species such as sambar deer, wild boars, porcupines, and a rich avian population.
